The independent Megabooth will disappear.
Independent Megabooth Founder Kelly Wallick announced that the showroom will gradually close due to the pandemic. Of course, independent Megabooth relies on face-to-face events such as PAX and EGX, and these events have been canceled so far.
Employees will continue to work for the rest of the month, but until the end of the crisis, Indie Megabooth is still sunset.
"After nine years of hard work and the establishment of the IMB, this was a difficult and disappointing decision. However, in fact, our team is very small, which is bigger than us."
But before the IMB went to sleep, it partnered with Steam for large-scale sales. "Going Away Sale" will be launched from May 5 to 12, and provides more than 100 games. Developers who have sold the game can return part of their profits to the IMB for free as a "pay-as-you-go" revenue share.
You can also directly support IMB through this Paypal link. The funds will be used for maintenance, taking care of the remaining financial obligations and supporting employees during this transition period.
Wallick added: "I have invested my efforts to build this community and have been continuously welcomed and honored by the community and the game industry. Our community and the game industry have always been so enthusiastic and supportive."
"Although this is really sad, I want to celebrate all the good things we can do together, and the impact of the continuous expansion and change on independent scenes in the past decade."
