It is normal for us to associate Michael Bay with everything that has to do with explosions, action and visual fantasies, but the truth is that the director has not only lived from the saga Transformers. Just before starting in the toys franchise, the filmmaker gave us a more than remarkable production with The island.
The science fiction thriller saw the light in 2005 and was both directed and co -produced by Bay. The main cast is really outstanding, because we have as protagonists Figures as prominent as Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. However, there are luxury secondary ones such as Bean, Djimon Hounsou, Steve Buscii and Michael Clarke Duncan in different roles.
The plot leads us to 2019, when Lincoln Six-Echo and Jordan Dos-Delta are living in a kind of concentration camp. Their life is perfectly structured and they are prohibited from going abroad to avoid suffering the evils of the ecological disaster that hit the entire planet. That is why humanity was practically decimated and there is only a hope.
That hope is neither more nor less, than the island, a place that has not been affected and to be able to go to lead a better life. However, not everyone can go there, which causes a Selection process for a few lucky. The problem comes when Lincoln's curiosity goes further and discovers a terrible truth.
With a budget of 126 million dollars, hardly 162 million dollars were collected worldwide and the island was forgotten over time. However, it is still one of Michael Bay's best works on the big screen.
