blood curse In recent years it has taken on a fabulous quality. It’s already one of FromSoftware’s most famous titles, but the fact that it’s still stuck on the PS4 evokes an emotion that transcends the game itself.
While the game is playable on the PS5, it doesn’t take full advantage of its superior hardware. It still delivers a 30fps experience at 720p launch resolution. Meanwhile, PC gamers nearly lost their minds waiting for it to arrive, turning similar games into Bloodborne instead.
But that hasn’t stopped modders from continuing to figure out ways to make the game run at higher resolutions and 60 fps on PS5 – which is the real reason everyone wants to remake/re-release Bloodborne. Lance McDonald, a name that should be very familiar to anyone who follows the Souls community, is back with what may be his best work to date.
McDonald, a well-known Souls modder who previously made Bloodborne run at 60fps on PS4 Pro, has since released a mod that anyone with a modded console can use to perform the same operation.
Today, McDonald released footage of the game running at 1080p, 60fps on the PlayStation 5. This is achieved without any interpolation tricks or image upscaling. Just 1080-60 footage running on actual hardware.
You can see for yourself in the raw gameplay screenshots below, which include some exploration, combat, and the Father Gascoigne boss fight.
The modders didn’t reveal how they arrived at this result, but for most of us with regular PS5 consoles, it’s probably out of reach. Some kind of jailbreak may be required to run this code, and this will likely remain the case until we get an official remaster/rerelease of the beloved game.
