Flavor of release date. This game was exactly what everyone expected. Desert Recipe is proving to be a source of hope for currently desperate fans after years of silence, and it could be the funniest potential Silk Song tease we've seen yet.
It all started with an innocent move by a member of Team Cherry, who changed their Discord tag and profile picture to a delicious piece of cake ahead of the Nintendo Switch 2's release. However, eagle-eyed Silksong fans discovered that if you reverse-search this cake picture, you'll find an online cake recipe. Suddenly, Silksong fans discovered the first crumb (or maybe cake crumb) of more information.

This recipe for Bon Appetit's Brooklyn Blackout Cake was written and posted by Rick Martinez on the food store's website on April 2, 2024. If this date sounds familiar, that's because the next Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2, 2025. Now you can see that a little fun actually starts to look like a delicious tease of what's to come.
But it turns out there's more. If you read down the comments for this Brooklyn Blackout Cake, you’ll find comments from Ali Gibson and William Perron. They are Team Cherry's art director and game designer respectively, and while their comments aren't entirely conclusive, Gibson's are definitely surprising. He commented, “I give this cake a 4/2” – again referring to the release date and the date of the next Nintendo Direct.
So, if this little treasure hunt is to be believed, those of you who have been praying for more Silk Song over the past few years may actually get what you asked for in just a few months. Either that, or Team Cherry has made the funniest jokes at the expense of Silk Song Hungry. Funniest, or cruelest, depending on your point of view. It's been a while since we've seen any, and hopefully the good folks at Cherry's team have done more than make delicious cakes over the years.
So an already exciting Nintendo Direct appears to be pointing toward the stands, ready to hit a home run. It's no understatement to say that there's more than just a slew of new Switch 2 direct reveals and Silksong will be an unprecedented figure. So please don’t waste your efforts!
