A few weeks ago, the composer Mick Gordon lit the towel between him and the editor Bethesda, after publicly complaining about the final rendering of the soundtrack of DOOM Eternal, and its famous compression so dear to our beloved rdac 'chef, not without expressing his doubts about a future collaboration. He seems to have shown a certain foresight in this matter.

Two weeks after the opening of hostilities, Bethesda breaks its silence through DOOM Eternal's executive producer, Marty Stratton, who split from a (very) long open letter "the community" via Reddit, trying to wring the neck certain speculations of which the Internet has the secret:
Some have suggested that we have been negligent or disrespectful to the music of DOOM Eternal. Others have speculated that Mick did not have the time or the creative freedom to compose something different or better. The fact is that none of this is true.
Stratton begins by recalling that the lead audio designer of the game Chad Mossholder had been directly threatened, and that Gordon's early announcement had taken the company by surprise, the latter not having been contacted beforehand by the interested party.
Mick Stratton explains that the contract involving Gordon had not yet been signed at the time of announcing the presence of the corporate action DOOM Eternal in its juicy Collector edition at E3 2019.
Once the matter was settled, the composer agreed to return his copy for "early March", a delay which proved difficult to keep :
On February 24, Mick contacted us, explaining that there was much more work than expected., and that despite his progress, his compositional work took him more time than he had imagined. He apologized and asked for four more weeks.
The composer asked for four more weeks, Bethesda offered him six, but the release (even regrowth) is fast approaching, and the executive producer asks his audio designer to work on a first mix, in case :
At the beginning of April, I sent Mick an email to remind him of the importance of respecting his extended chance date. I let him know that Chad had started working on the back-up tracks, but I laughed that our expectation and our preference went to his own mixing work
In a fan response, Mick said he "would not have worked like this", moving away from the realities and truths that I have just described, which have generated unnecessary speculation and judgment – and have led some defame and attack an identified employee who had simply answered the request to provide a soundtrack.
Stratton concludes hoping to see Gordon win awards for his work on DOOM Eternal at the end of the year, not without hinting that the long-standing collaboration would undoubtedly not be renewed:
I am as sure as anyone that we have come to this stage, but as we have already done several times, we will adapt to the circumstances and collaborate with the most talented artists in the industry. Our team has really enjoyed this collaboration, and we know that Mick will continue to delight fans for many years to come.
