There will be a lot of cool-looking modding projects in development for any Bethesda game at any given time, so if you’re not like me and eat, sleep, and breathe modding for work, there’s a chance you can get beyond Skyrim: Cyrodiil is an aircraft that flies under your radar.
The good news is that as part of its quest to add a version of Cyrodiil, as it’s set during the time in TES history that Skyrim takes place in the game (i.e. long after the events of Annihilation), the ambitious mod development team Just did a fresh Reddit AMA, and in doing so confirmed that it has that key thing any game needs: a tabloid design that makes it feel authentic in its insanity atmosphere.

This Q&A session, held a few months after the Beyond Skyrim: Cyrodiil team last showed off some gameplay from their project, gave us a look at some of the missions involving Stendarr Vigilantes during the Creation Mod Con 2024 community showcase. It’s been a while since they released a major progress update, so naturally people have questions.
One person even got interested, asking the team if there was “anything you can tell us, want to tell us, but just haven’t gotten the right questions out of it yet?” The answer they got from Cyrodiil modder EnstoneDC might be interesting. Nonsense, but probably not what they expected.
“We have a complete system, both for newspaper writing and gameplay. It required a little guide writing and a complete overhaul of existing content, but is now very satisfying in the game,” the modder wrote, “Basically, we have low-level, generic, world-building articles that are fed into the game over time and then replaced with mission-related content, so it feels like there’s a constant flow news, unless the player does absolutely nothing. Of course, it feels like there’s always something new to read during your year in the game, and a lot of it may involve your exploits, or at least point you to new quests. and content.”
They add that the mod will feature three newspapers, each with its own “very different style, approach to news, and tone,” and since they’re apparently made with real-world journalistic norms in mind, you’ll be looking at at least There’s one with a “screaming tabloid vibe” that attempts to help the mod provide a more immersive experience. “If you do something noteworthy, complete an important side mission, a house is blown up, or a new emperor is crowned, you’ll see what people think and say about it,” EnstoneDC explains. Whether it’s from the local paper or from all the media, depending on the impact, some of it is really interesting, to be honest.”
So yeah, get ready to read a bad column from the Tamriel version of, well, people who are in the same profession as me, about how you are a scumbag because you accidentally clobbered Joe with a disease Rolle’s real estate market – time to explode.
While the team at Beyond Skyrim: Cyrodiil has yet to commit to a release date for the mod, they did confirm that the full version will “likely be an update of ‘Beyond Skyrim – Bruma,’ a re-creation of Cyrodiil that launched in 2017 The northernmost city and its surrounding areas, but it’s unclear if you’ll be able to access the full version of Cyrodiil using just the saves made with this mod.
Oh, and while you’re there, it’s now confirmed that you’ll be choosing between four different Emperor candidates in the mod’s main quest, which is all about being caused by a certain Dark Brotherhood member doing something “Succession” Titus Meder 2nd.
