Does Axel Springer Verlag want to get rid of its TV station Bild? According to reports, the live program could disappear or the station could even be completely shut down.
- Just over a year after the start, Bild TV is already on the verge of collapse.
- The live program will probably be discontinued.
- Lousy ratings and low income could even lead to the broadcaster being phased out soon.
Bild TV started in August 2021 with a lot of Bohei. When a big player like Axel Springer opens a new TV station, it naturally makes a big splash. However, the echo in the industry would be even greater if the broadcaster were to be on the brink of extinction just 15 months later. A “Mirror” report suggests this.
Picture TV has big problems
In addition to the miserable quotas, which gave cause for criticism in March, there are now financial problems. According to the report, external auditors came across the unsuccessful broadcaster when they were looking for savings at Springer.
Also interesting…
The live reporting, which was expanded to 13 hours in the spring, will apparently be stopped completely as the first measure. Then there is not much left of the program. After all, they not only made up the bulk of the day, but also the core element of the station concept. The formats “The Right Questions” and “Quarter to Eight” should continue for the time being, but the procedure sounds a lot like a farewell in installments.
High costs, bad odds
The fact is, advertising revenue and program costs don’t seem to go together. Now the question will be how much one is willing to invest further in a second TV station project that may have been oversized from the outset, alongside the Welt news channel.
If the publisher doesn’t come up with the “big idea” as soon as possible how to save Bild TV, it could soon be over with the TV existence of Germany’s largest tabloid.
