It has long been officially confirmed that BioShock 4 is in the works. However, the shooter project doesn’t seem to be under the best of stars – and that’s why the planned publication could be delayed at an early stage.
While the next BioShock is already in full development, it doesn’t seem to be doing well, according to a new report. According to the leaker, there should therefore be relatively little in the speculation about a release this year; the waiting time for the first BioShock since 2013 is likely to continue for the time being.
The background is an exodus of developers involved at Cloud Chamber, which can result in delays in the planned release of the title. In a report by ComicBook.com, which quotes a leaker’s tweet, says that around 40 members of the development team have either left of their own volition or have been left, including some senior staff. This could ultimately lead to the final release date being pushed back, although the publisher’s current annual report at least still suggests publication by the end of 2024 at the latest.
According to the leaker, that same publisher is said to be quite dissatisfied with the progress made so far; detached from the apparently somewhat sluggish development, the actual results to date should also leave a lot to be desired.
However, the leaker does not want to go so far as to say that the development of the title is already “hell”, but that the change of employees should rather go into the “slight restructuring” category. In any case, Cloud Chamber has already started hiring and hiring new employees. For this reason, the date of the comprehensive announcement of the game should definitely be pushed back for the time being.
Whether the situation is really as presented by the leaker is unknown. In any case, an official statement is not yet available. We’ll keep you up to date!
