The film adaptation of BioShock is still on track, but the makers now have to make do with a noticeably smaller budget.
As is well known, Netflix is making a film adaptation of the BioShock game series, but things have been pretty quiet about it recently – is that a cause for concern? The answer to that is basically “no”, because the film is still in production. However, those responsible now have to make do with noticeably less money.
How Variety citing producer Roy Lee, Netflix has cut the budget for the BioShock film adaptation, meaning the makers now have to make do with less money for the production. The exact amount of the cuts has not been made public, but according to Lee, they will now be producing “a noticeably smaller version”.
As a result, the BioShock film will now have a more personal touch, as it will no longer be as epochal as previously planned.
At the San Diego Comic-Con, Lee spoke generally about Netflix’s new compensation strategy. According to this, the money that ultimately goes to the studios depends on the number of viewers. This is intended to motivate producers to make films that reach a larger number of end customers.
Despite the reduced budget, Francis Lawrence, director of “The Hunger Games,” is still on board for the BioShock film. There is still no release date for the film.
