In December 2019 Take-Two Interactive and 2K Games surprised with the announcement of the fourth part of the BioShock series; after years of waiting, it was finally under development. The newly formed Cloud Chamber studio is responsible, but further details were left out for the time being. Now it seems clear why.
In a current annual report, Take-Two is now making it clear that the next BioShock is still a long time from a release. The report for investors and investors states that the new BioShock "will be in development for several more years".
So if you hoped to be able to hold the new BioShock in your hands as early as 2020 or 2021, you will be disappointed. The wording suggests that it won't be until 2022 or later.
Previous rumors surrounding the franchise would also fit in with this. These said that the development work on a new part once had to be completely restarted. And another circumstance is almost certain: The new BioShock will appear next to the PC more likely for PS5 and Xbox Series X than for the current generation around PS4 and Xbox One.
The remastered collection BioShock: The Collection was recently published within the series; the last correct part appeared in 2013 with BioShock: Infinite.
