Black Ops 6, but I had such a good time that I cried from laughter

Black, cried, Good, Laughter, Ops, time

It’s been a long time since I laughed so much while playing a Call of Duty. I’ve been playing the franchise since Modern Warfare y World at War from 2007 and 2008 respectively. I have always preferred campaigns, but I admit that I have invested many hours in the multiplayer (PVP and PVE) of classic Modern Warfare games.

Testing each new release is almost a tradition. I was clear that I wanted to try the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta, even though the last two Modern Warfare and Warzone have managed to make me almost completely lose hope in this franchise.

Despite everything, I had an extremely good time during Weekend 1 or Black Ops 6 closed beta thanks to the company of an old friend (a Call of Duty veteran) and doing precisely what a beta proposes: testing, learning and discovering things.

If there have been any games won in Black Ops 6, it hasn’t been thanks to me

You don’t understand Roger Murtaugh’s “I’m too old for this shit” line in Lethal Weapon until you start getting older and some things get too much for you, like I do with Call of Duty. I don’t want to get into whether it’s better or worse, and much less how much better or worse it is compared to a few years ago.

The five categories of manga: what is Shonen, Shojo or Kodomo

The thing is, I think of Roger Murtaugh every time I play or watch Call of Duty gameplay, because I just feel overwhelmed by the way things are currently played. I’m coming from games where the most mobility they allowed during duels was crouching and/or lying down. Wall running and jetpacks were the end of the world, but Call of Duty’s new mobility is a real pain. Black Ops 6 It has me as amazed as it is overwhelmed.

Throw yourself to the ground and use human shields

My first few matches during the closed beta were absolute chaos. It’s some of the most fluid and satisfying mobility I’ve experienced in a Call of Duty game, but everything felt like it was in fast-forward motion, even after a few hours of playing.

The two new standout features did make me laugh. You can now dash around like in Max Payne 3. While it looks cool, I can only see one reason for doing this: to surprise enemies around a corner, but it doesn’t always work either. Several players tried to use it against me and died before they could get a shot off. I admit I did laugh a bit at the situations.

There is another use for this mechanic: jumping off ledges. Here you will see how stupid I can be. Whenever I played the Skyline map, my only goal was to get to the central terraces of the map to jump into the pool from the balconies. Indeed, I did balconing on Black Ops 6.

The next thing to try out was the new mechanic of taking human shields. I promise I tried for over an hour. I was slaughtered in a thousand ways as I searched for fools who couldn’t hear me coming from behind. It wasn’t clear to me how to do it, so most of the ones I caught from behind ended up stabbed to death. It was during another of my pool sessions that I managed to capture a player. I wanted to jump out of a window with the hostage, but I decided to be nice.

RC cars and camping in the clothing store

Another absurd hobby was explosive radio-controlled cars. It was not easy for me to try them because many people play with them. Call of Duty as if their paycheck depended on it, so I was forced to get creative when it came to finding hiding places for my character.

I tried to satisfy all my concerns every time I managed to take the RC car out. It drives a bit clumsy and the wheels could use a bit more grip, considering they are made of plastic. I was surprised that it reacts to curbs and other obstacles such as stones, boxes and scenery elements. You can hear them from quite far away and many players get very nervous when you are close. They jump and try to escape desperately. It’s a lot of fun!

My favorite moment of the night came during the VIP player-based protect/eliminate mode. My friend and I decided to barricade ourselves behind the counter of a clothing store. He was the target. I started yelling at him to take cover like a bodyguard. We couldn’t stop laughing because several players tried to get to us, but ended up getting shot.

Two players joined us in our defense. Everything was going well until I heard a remote-controlled car and panicked: “If they catch us here, we’ll blow up!” I told my friend before realizing that the car was his. He couldn’t get it out of the area where we were entrenched. Don’t ask me why. He’s that stupid.

Yoda was able to hide from the Empire and Emperor Palpatine on Dagobah, but how did the Star Wars Jedi Master do it?

“Shut up, I’m in the car!” he shouted at me while several players shot at us. I started crying with laughter. There were four players, several ammunition cases and a radio-controlled car going around in a space of a few meters. The other team tried to get there, but they were quickly shot. My friend kept talking nonsense and I didn’t even shoot because I couldn’t stop laughing.

I wasn’t instrumental in any of my teams’ wins, but I was instrumental in several losses. Needless to say, I wasn’t at the top of the kill and points charts. Still, I ended up closing the beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 With a few things learned, a few secrets discovered, and a lot of laughs, see you in the open beta!
