I guess nobody saw that coming. Annapurna Interactive has released a trailer announcing a fresh game, Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth. The plot of the title is located between the two films, further information is few and far between.
No question, Blade Runner is a cult. The film from 1982 by Ridley Scott still enjoys a large fan base, which is not least thanks to the skilful depiction of a dystopian world. A whopping 35 years later, Blade Runner 2049 was released as a sequel in film form. But one should not forget that there is also a video game based on the substance. It was published by Westwood in 1997, an Enhanced Edition was not released until 2022.

Well, a whopping 25 years later, Annapurna Interactive surprisingly announces a new game, Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth, which is based on the book “Do androids dream of electric sheep?” by Philip K. Dick to his chest. Or at least the created universe, because the plot is set between the two films. The description reads: “Set between the original film and 2049 after the blackout, Blade Runner 2033 asks the question: what does a blade runner do when there are no more replicants to hunt?”
But that was it for the most part with the specific information about the title. Only the computer via Steam and “consoles” are currently specified as release platforms. Let’s go out on a limb and say that Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth will be released for at least PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
As a development studio, the internal forge of Annapurna Interactive is published, which is their first project. The studio is using Chelsea Hash, who previously worked on Solar Ash and What Remains of Edith Finch, as game director.
