it sounds like snowstorm Fighting against cheating is being stepped up Overwatch 2it reportedly threatened legal action against a major cheat provider.
With any new massively multiplayer game, cheating presents some big problems. While Overwatch 2 is only a new game, it’s bringing in a lot of new players, so cheating will obviously be an issue somewhere in the game. As Reddit user t33hee shared on the Overwatch subreddit, Blizzard appears to be crack ing down on cheat software, in this case a piece of software called Rijin.
User t33hee shared a screenshot of the software’s creator’s announcement announcing that the software will soon no longer be available. “Dear Customer/Visitor,” the post continued, “We regret to inform you that our Overwatch Ancillary Software (copyright reserved exclusively for Blizzard) will no longer be available after 8:00 PM GMT. is no longer available (since we removed the above services manually).
“Furthermore, additional services related to this software, such as purchasing or using it, will not be able to be completed. We understand that our customers may be upset or angry about our decision. Unfortunately, we cannot control this situation”, Screenshots on Reddit where the message is truncated, though t33hee did note that some sort of legal action from Blizzard appears to be threatened.
To be clear, the use of “assistive software” as a phrase is due to Discord’s moderation policy. Everywhere else that I know, they refer to it directly as cheating, so trust me, it’s not really something that’s designed to help people.
It’s good to know that Blizzard is cracking down on issues like this, but Overwatch 2 does have another big problem – it’s the monetization system, but that hasn’t stopped people from playing it.
