At Blizzard Entertainment, a particularly well-known employee is once again leaving: the General Manager of the WarCraft franchise.
Cult developer Blizzard Entertainment has to cope with and accept another prominent departure. John Hight, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the WarCraft franchise, announced via social media that he is leaving Blizzard. He previously worked at the development studio for 12 years.
During his time at Blizzard Entertainment, Hight worked as an executive on some of the best (and worst) expansions for the long-running MMORPG World of Warcraft – most recently the current add-on Dragonflight. Now he’s ready for the next step in his career.
Hight explained his decision via X (formerly Twitter) and emphasized that it was now time for a new adventure. Where he will be heading in the future is not yet known. The only thing that is certain is that Hight will remain loyal to the video game industry.
He believes that the WarCraft franchise, which is now celebrating its 30th anniversary, is in good hands. So, lasting negative effects on the further development of the major WarCraft game series around WoW, Hearthstone or WarCraft Rumble are apparently not to be expected.
