Blizzard announces select games coming to Steam, starting with Overwatch 2.

You can get Overwatch 2 from Steam starting August 10th.

As a free-to-play, team-based game, Blizzard says it’s the “perfect game” for the studio’s debut on the platform.

“Blizzard’s goal is to listen to our players and strive to exceed their expectations in everything we do,” said Mike Ybarra, president of Blizzard Entertainment. “While Battle.net remains our present and future Top priority, but we’ve heard players want to choose Steam to choose our games. We’re excited to partner with Valve to make that happen.”

It’s worth noting that in addition to Battle.net, Overwatch 2 is also available on Steam. This will allow the community already accessing the game through the service to play the game as before without any changes.

This means that players on Steam will still need to connect Overwatch 2 to a Battle.net account, as is required across all platforms. Players using Steam will have access to Steam Achievements, Steam Friends List, and invite them to play games, among other features.

Blizzard said it will share more information about other games that may be coming to the platform “when the time is right.”

The Overwatch 2 Steam page is live and wishlistable.
