A recent bug caused Tracer to run in Overwatch 2 The role is expected to be disabled, but snowstorm Said it would not be like this.
The bug in question removes any damage drop when she shoots at opposing players below 20 meters. Normally, the amount of damage you do depends on how close you are, but this bug means that as long as you’re within 20 meters, you’ll basically do the most damage, assuming your aim is good.
It was widely assumed that Tracer would be disabled as a result, but as PCGamesN spotted, game director Aaron Keller commented on the bug on a Reddit thread explaining that she would not be taken out of the game.
“Hi everyone. We are currently investigating and plan to resolve this bug in a future patch,” Keller wrote. “However, this seems to have happened in the last few versions of the game (we just verified it in the Halloween patch), and while Tracer’s drastic damage drop is definitely a bug, her overall power level is okay. We don’t Tracer is going to be disabled, and when we fix that bug we’ll also consider making other changes to her toolkit to compensate.”
The Reddit post gives us a good look at the clip in action, which shows a single burst of the Tracer being enough to take down enemies less than 20 meters away, which is clearly not the fairest thing in the world. Although it’s clearly not enough for Blizzard to remove her from the game, as they did with characters like Mei and Bastion.
Blizzard does have a lot of features and changes planned for Overwatch 2. It recently began testing voice chat transcriptions to help remove toxicity from the game. There are also plans to change how the battle pass works in future seasons, as the team is currently not happy with the way players are progressing.
