Overwatch 2 launched less than 24 hours ago, and as expected, there were some initial issues accessing the game. It’s not something we’re not used to, but going through a queue of up to 40,000 players at the same time still makes me go to bed early instead of staying and trying to play.
That said, Blizzard has acknowledged queue times for free multiplayer games via Twitter. Blizzard President Mike Ybarra tweeted The team is working to resolve server issues, and Blizzard is humble enough to see the excitement in its players.
Later, however, Mike Ybarra follow up Quoting it in his previous tweet, “Unfortunately, our servers are experiencing a massive DDoS attack. The team is working on mitigation/management. This is causing a lot of packet loss/connectivity issues.”

While Overwatch Social has remained relatively quiet on the issue, game director Aaron Keller shared Just two hours ago, the Overwatch account retweeted an update. “We’re making steady progress with server issues and stability, and we’re dealing with a second DDoS attack,” Aaron said.
“We are all on deck and will continue to work through the night. Thank you for your patience – we will share more information as it becomes available,” he concluded.
In addition to players not being able to access Overwatch 2 without waiting, there are a few issues with cosmetic items not yet transferred, and of course some bugs that need to be fixed. It looks like the issue is slowly being resolved through the resolved section of Overwatch 2’s Known Issues post, but right now, there’s no question that the focus is on fixing server issues and getting players into the game, which is understandable.
Are you lucky (and patient) enough to jump into Overwatch 2? Let us know how it goes! Maybe, just maybe, I can join at a reasonable time today and see what the fuss is about.
