The highly anticipated Blue Protocol will no longer be released; the MMORPG will be discontinued entirely.
Bandai Namco and Amazon Games had unfortunate news for fans of online role-playing games today, as the highly promising and highly anticipated Blue Protocol, an anime-inspired MMORPG, has unfortunately been canceled. This means that the global release has been canceled entirely after the game initially launched in Japan.
As a result of the decision, the plug will also be pulled in Japan; Blue Protocol will end there on January 18, 2025 and all servers will be taken offline. This is a pretty bitter result considering that the title was in the works for almost ten years. Amazon Games confirmed in 2022 that development work had started in 2015.
In a public statement, Bandai Namco said that the teams behind the game were naturally disappointed with the decision. After careful consideration, they came to the conclusion that Blue Protocol and the planned service would not be able to satisfy all players. They therefore decided to discontinue the game; at the same time, they apologized for the sudden announcement.
Blue Protocol was supposed to launch in the West next year on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
