Anyone who has been looking forward to the futuristic-themed multiplayer shooter Boundary has already noticed that the originally targeted release window of 2020 has now passed. Now it is clear: the waiting time will be a whole lot longer.
Boundary is one of the most promising and ambitious projects of the Chinese developer Surgical Scalpels. Actually, the first-person multiplayer shooter should have started last year 2020, but as is well known, nothing came of it. And: even in the near future, it won’t be that far yet.
Due to the ongoing challenges surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the original release time window was missed and it is precisely these that make a further postponement necessary. The development process is simply taking more time than initially planned, so Boundary will not be published until summer 2021. So the waiting time continues for at least several months.
The multiplayer shooter is set in space with zero gravity and thus brings unique challenges in terms of movement and fire mechanics. There will be no single player part. Rather, in a pure multiplayer game you want to focus on the special feeling of weightlessness.
At the launch, Boundary should have four different game modes, including a domination variant called Facility Capture, in which you have to occupy and defend certain locations on the map. Classic Team Deathmatch is also on board, as is the competitive Orbital Purge mode. The release is planned for PC and PS4.
