Riot Games is one of the biggest believers in free games, but it treats brave microtransactions differently.
Brave, Riot Games recently revealed a 5v5 tactical shooter that will be available for free as well as League of Legends and other studio portfolios.
Riot confirmed to Polygon that Valorant will sell cosmetics for real money, but not through booty boxes. The same cosmetics can also be unlocked via Battle Pass. Generally, developers want specialized players to earn cosmetics just by playing.
Riot groups did confirm the weapon skins and sprays of Brave Soldiers, but also revealed that character skins might not arrive for a while. Selling skins is an important business for League of Legends and other free games, but Riot doesn't want to disrupt Valorant's competitive balance.
Although the appearance only changes the appearance of the character, Riot is concerned that it will be difficult to identify the character during playback. All the heroes of brave heroes have the same hit box, which is a super competitive and fair playing environment.
"I think (character skin) must definitely not affect the gameplay," said executive producer Anna Donlon.
"It will be narrow. I think there is a way to do this. These are the things we are interested in exploring."
Valorant will be released this summer and plans to release a beta version in the next few months.
