Main stand or side stand? Doesn’t actually need this novelty from India. Liger Mobility’s electric scooter balances itself with the help of gyroscopes.

  • The Indian company Liger Mobility has presented the two electric scooters Liger X and Liger X+.
  • Special feature: When stopping at traffic lights, your feet remain on the running board.
  • Sophisticated technology ensures that the scooters do not fall over.

Self-balancing scooters and motorcycles – the idea is not new. In addition to other companies, BMW conducted a study on this subject published. Not without reason: Because especially at low speeds, it is sometimes not that easy to keep a heavy motorcycle in balance. This is especially true for tall enduro bikes or rather short riders.

The Indian company founded in 2016 Liger Mobility now wants to have achieved a breakthrough. As can be seen in a video, the two electric scooters, which technically only differ from each other in terms of their range, require neither a main stand nor a side stand.

To make this possible, two gyroscopes are used, which ensure stability through their gyratory movements. The manufacturer does not reveal exactly how this was technically implemented on its website or in the video. However, the system should be strong enough to work even with a load of 150 kilograms. Therefore, a two-person operation is also conceivable.

In practice, this would represent not only a major increase in safety but also an increase in comfort. After all, your feet can simply remain on the running board when you stop at traffic lights. Other features of the novelty, which costs the equivalent of only around 1,000 dollars, include a TFT display with navigation function and ranges of between 60 and 100 kilometers.

It is still unclear whether the two e-scooters will also be available in this country. We present the e-scooters available in Germany in the linked overview.
