It’s an understatement to say that the information on Breath of the Wild 2 is thin. However, behind the scenes, Nintendo is pushing its chess pieces, as suggested by a patent from the forest.
Players in a hurry to find the universe of the newest The Legend of Zelda have just a few minutes to guess what will get Link and Zelda up and running again in Breath of the Wild 2: “the sequel by Breath of the Wild “. At the moment there are actually only two trailers available.
Seal of flexibility
But now a new patent, filed by Nintendo in February 2020, has just popped up in the database Scope of patent
The character led by a player can traditionally move and jump in space. However, if it is possible to reach certain heights by jumping, the presence of an obstacle above that character will prevent him from reaching the top of that obstacle. Therefore, the present device is understood as a method which is able to move the figure over an obstacle, even if it is over it.
In other words, Nintendo’s find would allow a character to pass a piece of the landscape above them and pass through it and eventually stand on it.
The sky is the limit
The patent visuals provided by Nintendo (and available in our picture gallery) also describe the many requirements that must be met in order to cross the landscape like an experienced speedrunner: To play with obstacles, the player must correctly position themselves under an element of the landscape without a piece of sky ruining the equation. Likewise, the top element must have a relief that is flat enough to allow movement, not too far away, or have peaks and other traps that would spoil everything.
But why the hell would that patent apply to Breath of the Wild 2, you ask? The most attentive will undoubtedly remember the trailer released on the occasion of E3 2021:
For a moment, Link actually crosses a stone wall as if charging into it, a mechanism that should therefore sound very familiar to you, given the description just mentioned, right? It is difficult not to associate this find, directly or indirectly, with Breath of the Wild 2, especially since the exceptions to the rule are numerous and explicitly listed in the description of the document, a detail that, given the thousand, will not surprise anyone a mistake that could crop up with the ingenuity of gamers.
Indeed, when we know how far some are willing to push the boundaries of what is physically feasible in an open world as organic as that of the cult game of 2017, let’s imagine Nintendo refining its idea … down to the pixel. Finally we hope.
While we wait to hear your thoughts on this amazing patent, we remember in every way that Breath of the Wild 2 is now awaited 2022, yes, but on switch. Listen!
