One detail bothers a lot of “Bridgerton” viewers in season 2: Kate and Anthony’s wedding is never shown. Netzwelt reveals why this is so.
- The new “Bridgerton” dream couple Kate and Anthony get married at the very end of season 2.
- However, viewers do not get to see the marriage, it takes place offscreen.
- However, there are three good reasons for skipping the ceremony, which you will find out below.
Kate and Anthony – or “Kanthony” for short – are the new dream couple of the 2nd “Bridgerton” season. Fans and viewers of the historical romance on Netflix are able to get excited about their tender love story, which is slowly and somewhat awkwardly brewing. But one detail of the new episodes from Season 2 also bothers some viewers: Kate and Anthony’s wedding is missing from the series. She is never shown.
Instead, in the 8th and final episode of Season 2, it takes place after the marriage a time jump of about 6 months. There are three good reasons why the wedding was left out in the Netflix series, which is otherwise focused on festive occasions such as balls, as “Bridgerton” boss Chris Van Dusen told the US website TVLine executes
1: Queen Charlotte does not host a 2nd wedding
Queen Charlotte previously hosted Edwina and Anthony’s failed marriage in the second season of “Bridgerton.” As Season 2 progressed, it was very nice to see how duped the Queen felt by it. “The Queen funded Edwina and Anthony’s wedding, and she wouldn’t do it twice” then explains showrunner Chris Van Dusen.
2: Kate Sharma is considerate of her sister Edwina
Of course, it would also have been extremely difficult for Kate’s younger sister Edwina to attend Kate and Anthony’s wedding. Although she forgives them both because she recognizes her true love, the “Bridgerton” series executives didn’t want to degrade Edwina to a one-dimensional figure who takes part in a second wedding without batting an eyelid.
“I didn’t want her to be just a prop”, reveals showrunner Van Dusen regarding Edwina.
Kate and Anthony’s wedding therefore took place in a very small circle – an intimate ceremony, where not even many family members of the two were present.
3: In Anthony’s daydream, Kate is seen as the bride
Anthony Bridgerton drifts into a daydream during his attempted marriage to Kate’s sister Edwina at the royal court. Here he is alone with Kate in the church – and his future bride is wearing a white wedding dress, as you can also see on the cover of this article.
Did those responsible for “Bridgerton” simply want to avoid duplication here – and therefore did not show the second, actual wedding? That also seems entirely conceivable.
Either way, all viewers of the series can also look forward to the already officially confirmed return of “Kanthony” in the already confirmed third season of the Netflix series. And the wedding may even be “rescheduled” in these episodes by being shown in flashbacks.
