Season 2 of Bridgerton is back on the Netflix streaming service. In the new episodes of the historical drama, the eldest son of Bridgerton, Anthony, is looking for a wife in order to fulfill his social duty and provide for an heir.
His younger brother Benedict, on the other hand, is free to pursue his passion for art. But Anthony is the Viscount. He inherited the title from his father. And with it all the rights and duties that his father had as a member of the nobility. That’s how it reports it US-Shop Screerant.
As Viscount, his role is similar to that of judge and tax collector. He is expected to administer justice in his territory and to collect taxes and dues from his subjects. In addition, Anthony is also responsible for the well-being of his family, that is, he takes care of his brothers and finds suitable husbands for his sisters.
Benedict does not have all of these tasks, even though, as the second-born son, he is his brother’s heir. In the Bridgerton books, Anthony and Kate have four children, meaning that unless tragedy strikes, Benedict will never inherit the position.
However, in Season 2, Anthony warns Benedict that as his current heir, he should also take care of his duties. While Anthony supports Benedict’s art and thinks he’s a good artist, he also finds that he indulges in very frivolous things, like the wild, lavish parties Benedict attends with his artist friends.
Whether Benedict will grow up and take on more responsibility in Season 3 remains to be seen. Until the new episodes come out, you can while away the time with these “Bridgerton” alternatives. We also reveal what awaits you in all 8 seasons.
