On Wednesday October 26th the pre-patch for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight was released, which will be released on November 28th. Patch 10.0, which as usual is supposed to prepare the players for the new expansion, is plagued by many bugs and problems.
Most genre fans should know that the release of a new add-on has always been difficult, and even with large patches there are often some bugs. The fact that a pre-patch causes so many problems in WoW is an exception in this case.
Despite powerful hardware, gamers complain about jerking and errors in the new user interface, which should now be completely customizable – in theory. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work as well as it should in practice. All known bugs in patch 10.0 and suitable solutions (if there are any) can be found in this article.
Lawsuit against Activision Blizzard Activision Blizzard is currently facing a lawsuit alleging sexism and unequal treatment of female employees. Fix the stuttering
When players logged into the game for the first time and wanted to see what the new patch had to offer, I’m sure some had a rude awakening. The game also stutters on computers with powerful hardware.
That’s why WoW stutters after the preparation patch: With the new update, Blizzard has changed the calculation of the shaders. On some PCs, they are stored on the hard drive instead of the usual RAM or graphics memory.
The fix for the stuttering in World of Warcraft Patch 10.0 is surprisingly easy to do with a chat command. So all you have to do is go into the game and copy the following command into the chat:
/console GxAllowCachelessShaderMode 0
Then restart the game or enter this command in the chat:
Alternatively, you can also go to the Config.wtf file in the games folder and enter the following line there:
SET GxAllowCachelessShaderMode “0”
You can find the Config.wtf in your local WoW folder in the »WTF« subfolder. Right-clicking on the file and then clicking on “Edit” is enough to simply insert the line at the bottom.
If that doesn’t improve the stuttering, you’ll have to wait for Blizzard willy-nilly, or check out these general fixes, which we’ll get to now.
This is how you can prevent bugs in a new patch
If you are plagued by bugs or your performance suffers badly from the patch, it might be worth following the tips below:
- Update your addons: After a big patch, most fan add-ons like Details!, Deadly Boss Mods, Bagnon and Co. have to be updated, otherwise they won’t work
- Disable your add-ons: If some of your add-ons are not yet up to 10.0 level, it would probably be better to disable them for the time being to avoid errors.
- Install addons: Sounds strange at first, but some add-ons can also help you to avoid bugs. For example, if you were planning to use the new UI instead of an action bar add-on, you could still go back to Bartender4 or something similar until Blizzard fixes the bugs.
- Decrease graphics settings: If you have tried the solution with the chat command and are still having problems with stuttering, it helps to set the graphics settings lower than usual until Blizzard responds with fixes.

Known Bugs in Patch 10.0
World of Warcraft community manager Kaivax has one on the official forums List of known bugs published
In the following list you will find all known bugs, with the user interface having the most problems by far:
Klassen
- When logging in for the first time, your talent tree and action bars may be empty. Logging out and back in should fix the error.
- It can happen that the micro menu opens, although you have already done everything under this point.
- Covenant abilities may not have been swapped correctly with the talent of the same name, resulting in duplicate abilities in the spellbook. The abilities share a cooldown when either is cast.
- Spells that have multiple charges thanks to talents (such as shadow step for rogues, for example) do not show their cooldown in the tooltip if you’ve skilled a charge through the talent tree.
Waffen
All weapons that drop from M+, including items from the Great Treasury, may display the incorrect item level.Fixed
jobs
- The skill gauge for your profession will show up as full even if you haven’t fully skilled it.
- Dragging an item that you cannot equip over the Professions window may result in an error causing the item to disappear and go to your character equip slot.
- You will already be shown the slot for the reagent pouch. This indicator will be disabled soon and re-enabled when you really get to equip the new pouches with Dragonflight for the first time.
- Newly crafted Profession items cannot be stored in Void Storage.
user interface
- Spells could not be displayed in the action bar if your action bars are not set to “always show”.
- Interact and Action Targeting keybindings may not be saved when you log out.
- Abilities could incorrectly appear above the action bar when on cooldown.
- The UI might disappear and reappear when in edit mode. This can happen when your character window’s anchor is pinned to your action bar.
- The default loot gauge could appear off-screen. In this case, use the chat command /Reloadui to fix the error.
- In the group search, the start button for the group search can appear in the custom category.
- Elite enemy nameplates no longer display the typical dragon around their portrait. This is intentional.
- Magic bars can hide behind other UI elements.
- Unit frames can be linked elsewhere if they are too close to the group display.
- The “Recruit a Friend” feature is not displayed correctly in the Social Tab.
- Action Bar 6-8 will be enabled when you revert to default settings.
- The HUD_Tooltip is displayed on the settings window
- Completing Exiled Isle may result in you typing “START” & “END” in chat.
- Icons for new guilds and communities are oversized.
- Viewing players who are too far away sometimes causes your talent window to open.
accessibility:
- The new “hold cast” feature may not work with mouseover casts.
- With the new action targeting, auto melee attacks can no longer be canceled with the ESC key.
- When playing with a gamepad, the button assignment indicators may disappear from the abilities.
User Services
- When you purchase a character transfer, you may notice in the target account selection step that the character in the selection list appears to move to the first character on the character selection screen. This is a visual error and the character you chose is still locked.
Some NPCs that exchange items for codes outside of the game have been temporarily removed from the game. Fixed.
We do our best to keep the list up to date and keep you informed.
Players still have to be patient for the new class, as it will only be playable in the second phase of preparation. For this class, Blizzard completely rethought the balancing:
