Wandering Villagea city-building sim in which you manage a village perched on the backs of behemoths, will enter Early Access next week.
Developed by Sweden’s Stray Fawn Studio, the game takes place in a world where a mysterious poisonous plant is spreading. You’ll need to lead a small group of survivors to seek shelter on a behemoth they call Onbu.
You’ll need to help the villagers build a functioning settlement and build relationships with Onbu to survive in a hostile world. When you exp and your village behind Onbu, you need to use the limited space as efficiently as possible.
Living on Onbu’s back presents its own set of challenges. You have to decide whether to live in symbiosis with the creature, bond with the creature, or become a parasite. If you choose the former (and why not?), you’ll need to take care of the creature to make sure it stays healthy – you can even pet its head.
Another aspect of the game is the need to adjust your village as Onbu traverses different biomes. Each country has unique climate zones, opportunities and threats. In these biomes, you’ll send out scouts on foraging missions to collect rare resources and ancient artifacts.
When out scouting, you’ll find remnants of the old world, knowledge long forgotten. Look for and research these technologies, but use them wisely, as progress can be a double-edged sword.
You’ll also face obstacles as you keep Onbu and the village alive. These include poisonous spores, unpleasant weather, blood-sucking parasites, and other challenges that usually work against you.
Wandering Village will be available through Steam Early Access on September 14th.
