The Egyptians were considered to be some of the greatest builders in the history of mankind, whose monumental pyramids are still astonishing today. Of course, it is delightful to swing the whip yourself and stamp our own Egyptian city out of the ground.
Builders of Egypt allows us to do just that and is thus in the tradition of a pharaoh or children of the nile – both building games were able to win over many fans at the time. Builders of Egypt doesn't have a release date yet, but you can try an early version now – for free.
Which version is free on Steam?
In the broadest sense, the free version is a classic demo. The product is called Builders of Egypt: Prologue on Steam. So you can easily add the game to your Steam library. Those who don't feel like steam can also find the prologue at GOG.
It's all in the prologue:
- The Builders of Egypt prologue will remain permanently available and is not subject to any time limit.
- The demo version includes the first mission from the Builders of Egypt campaign, in which you lay the foundations for the future capital of Egypt.
- According to the developer, this mission should take around an hour depending on the genre experience. However, after completing the mission, you can simply continue playing in endless mode.
- The prologue is not only a demo, but also an early access version. It will therefore continue to improve over time.
- The prologue will also be gradually expanded with new missions.

Builders of Egypt brings back Egyptian building strategy like Pharaoh
How is the game received by the fans?
On Steam, first players have already tested Builders of Egypt and left a user review of BoE: Pologue. So we already have a tendency for fans to like the game. So far, only 170 people have given a rating, but most of them agree: Builders of Egypt is already fun in the demo!
133 of all reviews are positive, which is why Builders of Egypt: Prologue also says “Mostly positive”. Although it is an early access version, many players praise how few bugs they found while playing.
Stump, for example, writes:
"The game is a better Pharaoh and Children of the Nile with much better graphics. I loved both games and I also love this game so far. The prologue version is free and easy to play."
TheShaudi also draws a very positive conclusion:
"This is an outstanding game! If you love Pharaoh and Children of the Nile – you can find a better version of it here. The community is also great. The developer takes advice and plays the game himself."
The negative voices usually emphasize poor performance and would have liked more innovations. So Luxiwow also writes:
"Had the game on my list for a long time and had high expectations. But it just seems to be a more modern version of Pharaoh from 1999. I expected more."
Even more games for construction fans
If Builders of Egyot is so reminiscent of Pharaoh, we are about to release a very important building game. Pharaoh is considered a real classic and has accordingly made it into our list of the 10 best building games on the PC.
There you will find a lot of other exciting titles that you can maybe catch up on. If you already know all of it, there are also a few current games that you shouldn't miss. For example, Anno 1800 was only published last year, which almost comes close to the genre primus Anno 1404 in terms of quality.
Or you try to get into the Beta of Endzone: A World Apart. It is a kind of banished in the post apocalypse. Building up is just as important here as survival.
