If you place a bullet on a BulletFarm, will you get a full belt of bullets like a pea in a pod? Or digging ammo boxes out of the ground like potatoes?
At least that’s what I imagine they do bullet farmis a new game development studio led by former “Call of Duty” studio director David Vonderhaar and affiliated with publisher NetEase Games.

BulletFarm is a new “AAA” studio
Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, BulletFarm is “currently developing a new, ambitious AAA game built with Unreal Engine 5 and set in the original universe with an emphasis on cooperative play.”
Connoisseurs of scopeless sniper rifles and YouTube clips will know Vonderhaar as the multiplayer design director on Call of Duty: World at War, a fantastic CoD game that only occasionally gives me The grenade indicator-based nightmare gave me nightmares when playing the campaign on Veteran difficulty. Promoted to Studio Design Director for the Black Ops series.
BulletFarm’s first project has yet to be announced, but Vonderhaar’s pedigree in first-person shooters will certainly come into play, as will his experience with one of the biggest multiplayer modes in gaming (especially when “co-op play” Call out when specific support has been received).
BulletFarm’s development team also includes creative director Chris Cowell, who previously served as lead game designer and lead sound designer at Treyarch.
Given that we’re in the studio announcement phase, BulletFarm’s first game could be out in the next few years, especially since Cowell’s LinkedIn says he’s only been working on the project for 5 months.
Vonderhaar and Cowell aren’t the only former Call of Duty developers lending their talents to leading ambitious new game studios. It is worth noting that in 2023, we also saw the release of “Immortals of Aveum” by Ascendant Studios, a subsidiary of EA Games. Ascendant Studios head Bret Robbins is the creative director at Sledgehammer Games, another Call of Duty studio.
