As fears of a coronavirus outbreak increase, developers are now taking greater precautions.
After weeks of news about cancellations and delays, game developers have now been upgraded to the next step in preventing the outbreak: work from home.
Destiny developer Bungie announced that he will move all employees to his home indefinitely. Developers have been building an infrastructure that allows all team members to work remotely without affecting the workflow.
"Today, we have activated this fully remote work infrastructure and policy for all Bungie employees worldwide, with the goal of prioritizing employee safety and continuing to develop and publish our favorite games for the community," the developer wrote .
"Our goal is to continue to build the evolving Destiny universe while working behind the scenes to ensure that fans don't see everything going smoothly."
Although Bunge said this may slow down patch releases in the short term, developers don't want to delay the start of Vossie or the release of the Osiris Trial. Once the threat is reduced, Bungie will work to "reintegrate" employees back to the site.
In addition, Microsoft has required Seattle headquarters and San Francisco staff to work from home until March 25. Both Bunge and Microsoft live mainly in Seattle, which currently has the highest coronavirus mortality rate, with 10 deaths. .
What happened in Seattle is no different than the past few days of Lost Los Angeles. The state of emergency announced in Los Angeles has cast doubt on the return of the already troubled E3.
Although we haven't heard of a delay in game release dates or major updates due to a corona virus, the release of PS5 and Xbox Series X is indeed likely to be delayed.
