The next part of Activision’s insanely popular shooter series will be released on October 25, 2024. However, hard drives are already getting nervous, because at the moment an installation easily weighs over 200 gigabytes, depending on the system and configuration. However, this unpleasant situation could soon change.
Every Call of Duty fan knows the problem of excessive installation and file size all too well. But with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Activision wants to gradually tackle the out-of-control data volumes.

In a detailed blog post, we learn more about the developers’ tactics. The first step is to tackle what was previously known as “Call of Duty HQ”.
Specifically, this means that there will be some updates before the release of Black Ops 6 on October 25, 2024. These will, for example, simplify and streamline the user interface. In addition, access to games will be made easier, you will have more control over the elements you download, and the streaming technology of the textures will also be adjusted, which will further reduce the download size.
But the most important thing is probably the separation of Warzone from the rest of Call of Duty. Until now, the Battle Royale mode was a forced download. Instead, you have more control.
The first update is scheduled to be released on August 21, 2024 and will not necessarily be small. According to Activision, the installation size will be significantly smaller afterwards. On the PlayStation 5, you can even expect four separate downloads. But at least Black Ops 6 will be a smaller download than Modern Warfare 3 when it is released. We’ll remain excited.
