Speed loss for the Call of Duty saga
Despite a successful start, the number of players in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has now collapsed. While last November the title still expected an average of 223,000 players on Steam, the FPS is much less frequented today. Starting in December, the game went into a downturn with numbers dropping by 20%. In the last few days, the number of visitors to the title has again fallen by a further 16%. In other words, the game has lost nearly 100,000 players since its launch, which isn’t nothing.
To counteract these visibly declining scores, we envision Activions and Infinity Ward heavily relying on the game’s next update which is scheduled for February 2nd. Unfortunately, not everything seems to be going as planned…
A late update?
According to the latest news, Season 2 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 will bring many new features like Season 1, such as new maps, new weapons and new operators. Thanks to such a program, the title had everything to attract players again in the coming weeks. However, according to recent rumours, the schedule would have been turned upside down a bit.
Season 2 was supposed to drop on February 2nd, but appears to be dropping on February 16th instead, according to leaks.
As a matter of fact, Leaks suggest that this season 2 will not arrive on February 2nd as planned, but may be pushed back by two weeks to land on February 16th, 2023. The good news is that players who haven’t unlocked all Battle Pass items still have two weeks to do so.
Obviously, these various rumors should be taken with a pinch of salt as nothing has been formalized by Activision and Infinity Ward at the moment.
