A recent report made one sit up and take notice, suggesting that Call of Duty: Mobile could soon be unplugged when Warzone Mobile appears. It doesn’t seem like that if you take a new statement from the developers seriously!
Last week, a report circulated that Call of Duty: Mobile would be fading away and not getting much fresh content once Warzone Mobile released later this year. In doing so, reference was made to an official document from Microsoft that was submitted to the responsible British authority in the course of the process surrounding the Activision Blizzard takeover.
This in turn called the developers and Activision onto the scene. They have therefore now published a statement via Twitter without further ado and confirm that this does not seem to be entirely true. Rather, Call of Duty: Mobile will continue to be supported until further notice.
The title continues to play an “important role” within the Call of Duty franchise and the publisher’s mobile strategy. Call of Duty: Mobile will be provided with “a robust roadmap of fresh new content, activities and updates” for the “long term”.
Activision and developer TiMi Studio released Call of Duty: Mobile on October 1, 2019 as a free-to-play shooter for Android and iOS. The game features multiple multiplayer modes, including a 100-player battle royale mode or a co-op zombie survival mode.
