Activision and Infinity Ward will be officially revealed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Restart on June 8th.
The companies announced the news today, along with a brief teaser trailer starring the game’s operators.
During the reveal, we may find out if the game is coming to Steam as suggested. We might also hear about an upcoming open beta for the game, which leaked a while back.
According to the leak, PS4 and PS5 players will first get early access to the public beta before heading to other platforms.
The data mining also revealed three game versions and platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Activision has not confirmed or denied any information in the leak, likely because they are holding all information for disclosure.
Modern Warfare 2 will be released on October 28th.
The upcoming reveal comes after nearly a year of controversy at Activision Blizzard. Back in July 2021, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing filed a lawsuit over reports of discrimination, sexual harassment and bullying. Another lawsuit was brought by the family of a deceased employee (recently dismissed), and another was brought by an investor.
It also faces a lawsuit from a current employee alleging discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation.
Recently, Raven Software’s QA department voted to recognize the Game Workers Union as a union, despite the company’s attempts to block the formation of the union. The group announced its union plan back in January.
