Activision and Treyarch have officially confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will enter the second season starting February 11th. With Ghost – as leaked before – it brings back a legend of the Modern Warfare series and also offers new multiplayer experiences.
In Season 2, Al-Qatala stole a Soviet nuclear warhead and smuggled it to Verdansk. Combined with the previously snatched chemical weapons, a global catastrophe is imminent and Captain Price sends Ghost to locate the warhead and prevent the worst.
Far from the story above, the second season brings new maps and battlefields for classic multiplayer as well as ground war and gunfight game modes. The "Rust" (multiplayer, gunfight), "Atlas Superstore" (multiplayer), "Bazaar" (gunfight) and "Zhokov Boneyard" (ground war) cards will be available on February 11th. Another multiplayer map follows with "Khandor Hideout" in the middle of the season.
Also right at the start, "Gunfight Tournaments" is a 2-vs-2 Firefight mode, and in the course of the season, "Demolition" will be followed by a new mode that should work similarly to "Search & Destroy". Other planned modes that will follow later are "Infected Ground War" and "NVG Reinforce".
Otherwise, there is a new Battle Pass, which is now common in Call of Duty, which also includes two new weapons: the Assault Rifel Gray 5.56 (Tier 15) and the Striker 45 (Tier 31). The actual Battle Pass, which you can purchase, also has 100 levels with unlockable additional content as usual.
The content of the exclusive Battle Pass Edition and other innovations on a smaller scale will be in the detailed blog entry on the official website explained. There you will also find detailed descriptions of the new maps.
