Game news Call of Duty: The Vanguard Episode Still Accused of Plagiarism?

Just a week ago, an artist accused Activision and Raven Software of plagiarism! We thought everything would go back to normal, but that was without counting on the day’s news. Call of Duty: Vanguard seems to have copied Activision’s FPS a second time.

Activision accused of plagiarism for the first time

Season 4 of Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard seems to have lacked inspiration… Last week, one Saillin actually expressed his disappointment when he discovered that one of his drawings published on ArtStation in 2019 may have been copied by Activison.

Hi everyone, I’m Saillin, the original artist of the Samoyed skin copied into Call of Duty Vanguard. I only discovered the plagiarism at the time of the announcement. While I’m a Call of Duty gamer, I’m disappointed that my work is being plagiarized in this way by a large company like Activision. I have asked Activision for an explanation and/or compensation and I hope that the issue will be resolved soon. As an independent artist, that’s all I can do and I need to speak out publicly to make sure something like this happens again in the future.

If the case appears to be nearing completion – Activision has taken care of contacting the artist personally (for more information we recommend you click here) -, it seems that the American publisher has struck again.

Rebels for Activision!

It was only a week before the Call of Duty license was again accused of plagiarism. This time, Activision would have chosen the game Dedrop, the multiplayer FPS by streamer Dr. Disrespect, (too) heavily inspired by a character created by Robert Bowling, a former developer at Infinity Ward. Whether it’s Robert Bowling’s creation or the Doomsayer skin from Call of Duty: Vanguard, they both share the exact same design.

This time it wasn’t the character designer himself who noticed the striking resemblance, but a gamer who loves both Call of Duty: Vanguard and Deadrop.

I think Robert Bowling will be happy to see that Activision just added his own skin in Vanguard… or not!

At the moment, Robert Bowling hasn’t reacted too much to this affair, but he did leave a tweet that was as enigmatic as it was funny a few hours ago.

At least tell him my name.

We imagine that the story of these plagiarisms will not end here. In this case we will of course keep you up to date.
