NPD Group recently released sales figures for games and hardware sales in November. As expected, “Call of Duty” dominates. Its latest work, Vanguard, occupies the top position of the rankings, and immediately took second place this year. Its old brother, Call of Duty: Black Ops, the date chart behind the Cold War. It is worth noting that this is the 14th consecutive year that the “Call of Duty” game h as topped the list.
Elsewhere on the list, “Forza Motorsport: Horizon 5” and “Maidama Tensei 5” both had their own record months. Shin Megami Tensei 5 also achieved the highest debut sales of the series, ranking 16th in its debut. “Battlefield 2042” also won the second place this month.
In terms of hardware sales, Nintendo Switch is the best-selling game console this month and year-to-date. The overall hardware sales fell by 38%, mainly due to hardware shortages.
At the same time, mobile games have been thriving during the pandemic. Driven by games such as Candy Crush Legend, Roblox, Genshin Impact, Pokémon GO and Call of Duty: Mobile, spending increased by 11% year-on-year.
Call of Duty is still a record-breaking success because of constant allegations of workplace abuse and sexism, not to mention union destruction. They are also not the only company that has to face the devil recently. Bungie is the latest to face publicly exposed toxic workplace charges.
