Season 5 Start this week Call of Duty: War Zone and Black Ops Cold War —— But it will be later than planned.
In today’s tweet, Official Call of Duty Twitter Account Announced the postponement of this season in a rather passive way and said:
“We give everyone an extra day to unlock level 100… but can you get there? Season 5 is now available on Thursday, August 12, at 9pm Pacific Time.”
For anyone who follows, that’s 6 p.m. EST / 9 p.m. Pacific time / 5 a.m. British summer time. Season 5 will introduce the first exclusive privilege of Call of Duty: Warzone, which seems to be the result of a promise made by Raven when acquiring ownership of Warzone development.
What is not clear is why the developers pushed the release date back. Is this related to the consequences of a major lawsuit filed by the parent company and publisher Activision Blizzard in connection with widespread harassment in California? Not sure.
So far, this scandal has ousted Blizzard’s president and head of human resources. In a statement against the lawsuit, CEO Bobby Kotick said that those responsible will be held accountable, even though many employees believe this ignores their demands.
After the lawsuit, Activision was sued by shareholders for allegedly concealing the investigation that led to the lawsuit, and many sponsors are withdrawing from the Overwatch and Call of Duty leagues. Many people in the group’s various studios formed an alliance and asked the company’s leaders to take practical action.
