When Activision Blizzard launched Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 last year, the previous Warzone with the suffix Caldera was initially continued – but now the publisher is pulling the plug.
So now it is! Activision Blizzard has announced that one the older Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera will be taken offline. Accordingly, almost a year after the release of Warzone 2.0, the former Battle Royale spin-off will be over. As of September 21, 2023, Caldera will no longer be available.
In the announcement, Activision stated that the developers should be able to “focus more on future Call of Duty content including the current Warzone free-to-play experience”.
And further: “All Caldera gameplay, player progress, inventories and online services will be phased out” – on the date mentioned. This will not have direct consequences for the current Warzone 2.0. Purchased content in Warzone Caldera originating from Modern Warfare, Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard can continue to be used in the current installment.
So if you want to continue playing Warzone, you will have to switch to Warzone 2.0 or the upcoming Warzone Mobile in the coming months. In Warzone 2.0, those switching can expect three Battle Royale maps including the new Vondel map in Season 04, ranked play, the DMZ beta with five extraction zones, BlackCell offers and more.
