In 1984, the current setting of Warzone, linked the narrative of the mode to the narrative of Black Ops Cold War. It also introduces a new (old) version of Verdansk, which can imagine what the place was like at the time. Usually, when the battle royale game changes the map, the old map/original map will remain very close, so that it can be launched in a limited time event or rotate normally like Apex Legends.

However, Warzone doesn’t seem to do anything. In the developer broadcast, Raven’s deputy creative director Amos Hodge confirmed that we have watched the last part of OG Verdansk.

He said: “The players don’t know, but now Verdansk… they will never play in that state again.” “Now, Verdansk is gone forever.”

Hodge went on to add that Verdansk in 1984 had the theme of spring, which explained the changes in lighting and the presence of more vivid colors on the entire map.

In another interview, Hodge revealed that Raven is developing PS5 and Xbox series X/S patches for Warzone, which will enable this mode to take advantage of the powerful hardware of the new console.
