According to gaming media veteran Jeff Grubb, Capcom has been considering reviving the long-dormant Dino Crisis IP in recent years. For any OG survival horror fans, you’ll probably be happy to hear this news, but there’s a problem. This particular rumor didn’t reach Grubb’s ears until just before ExoPrimal was released.
So Grubb expressed some skepticism on Good Mess Mornings as to whether ExoPrimal itself was the source of these rumors, as it’s a fresh dinosaur-centric game that many were hoping would somehow tie into Dino Crisis combined. This was revealed in Sony’s State of Gaming 2022 report.

Grubb revealed the rumor following the release of a Capcom consumer survey, which asked the public which old Capcom IPs they’d like to see resurrected. Featured games include many classics that fans love and adore, including Dino Crisis, Dead Rising, God Hand and the Vs Capcom series.
If this rumor is true, this is certainly good news for Dino Crisis fans. But then again, who could blame Capcom for seeing the righteous success of the Resident Evil remake without thinking that other survival horror series could benefit from similar treatment? Now, Dino Crisis may never reach the level of popularity of Resident Evil, but for any prospector or multinational video game company willing to get their hands dirty, there’s gold in these hills.
However, considering Grubb put an ExoPrimal-sized asterisk on what he heard, you have to wonder whether the Cretaceous Co-op Experience’s performance would give such a project pause. While ExoPrimal has its merits and is a great game pass for curious parties, it’s not an industry-shaking release. You have to hope that its performance is down to a lack of excitement in the game itself, rather than the dino project.
One can certainly hope. Especially when Capcom’s beloved classic Resident Evil games start to sell out. Resident Evil 5 needs some work. Resident Evil 0 might also be a solid choice, but it doesn’t shine as well as those that have received the remaster treatment (despite its quality).
Let us know what you think – do you think a Dino Crisis game is possible?
