According to a senior developer for Street Fighter 6, Akuma’s meta events – which include Twitch gaming community live streams and raid boss-style encounters within the game’s Battle Center – have been a success in the eyes of the Capcom development team.
In fact, in an interview with Kotaku at the Summer Game Fest, both director Takayuki Nakayama and producer Shuhei Matsushima said this kind of fun, fresh approach to role-playing is something the team is keen to explore in the future, noting that both games have been huge successes.

“When we did the raid boss event with Akuma in the Battle Center, it was a huge success,” the two said. [us] Realizing that there should be more opportunities to get people excited about events like this, this is [we] Would like to explore this in the near future.”
These wacky events happening both in and outside of the game mark the Street Fighter team’s first real foray into this kind of live service. The communities behind these games have long been doing the heavy lifting, especially as tournament organizers and content creators, so it’s nice to see the development team itself getting in on the action. Especially with how cool these little events are! Twitch player Akuma’s stream was a lot of fun, letting casual fans see a little bit of what Akuma is capable of, while also bringing a little fun to the party.
