Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases worldwide, the Capcom Cup has been cancelled.
The Capcom Cup was postponed last year and moved from Paris to the United States. The rescheduled will be held in the first quarter of 2021.
In addition to the cancellation, the Street Fighter World Championship originally scheduled for February 19-21 has also been cancelled.
Capcom said: “Although we firmly believe that we can hold a large-scale event without affecting players, employees and crew, we have reassessed as the situation develops and the global pandemic situation intensifies.”
The company pointed out that it is currently planning an online-only Season Final. This will enable the best players of the season to still be highlighted.
The company continued: “All the players who won the online premiere will be invited to the finals and we are in contact with all eligible players to ensure their participation.” “Details about the revised format will be in the next few weeks. It is available on the Capcom Pro Tour website.
“We would like to thank the fans, players and FGC for supporting Capcom Pro Tour during the difficult season. The community deserves a platform to celebrate their perseverance during a challenging year, so our goal is for February 20-21 Japan achieves this goal through the Capcom Fighters network.”
