Capcom definitely put on a show at Summer Game Fest 2024, with announcements that are sure to please fans of these iconic franchises.
These announcements came during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct and will likely trigger a certain wave of nostalgic excitement among some fans. We’re actually talking about the resurrection of the legendary Marvel vs. Capcom license through an Arcade Classics collection, as well as the return of Ace Attorney.
The Japanese giant had already caused a stir during State of Play and the opening ceremony of Summer Game Fest 2024 with Monster Hunter Wilds. To get to the point, we found him yesterday at Nintendo to announce Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics. This will be released in 2024 on Nintendo Switch, but also on PS4 and PC (especially via steam
It will include no less than 7 games: X-Men Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter, Marvel vs Capcom 1 and 2 and finally a game rarely seen in the West and yet the first fruit of the collaboration between Marvel and the Japanese studio: The Punisher, a sort of Streets of Rage in the company of the deadliest anti-hero in the Marvel universe.
A collection that smells of the arcade room, the sweat and camaraderie inherent in fighting games, all wrapped up in a pretty nice wave of nostalgia. If we don’t know the release date exactly, it should definitely come out this year, with a price set a priori at 49.99 dollars. However, the PC version could be a little cheaper.
Fans have no objections to this second announcement
In addition to this hard-hitting announcement, Capcom also presented another collection, this time focused on its legal license Ace Attorney, called “Investigations Collection.” Remember that this announcement leaked just before yesterday’s Nintendo Direct announcement. This game focuses more on puzzles than running a trial and will also be available on September 6 for PC, PS4 and Nintendo Switch, priced at $39.99. This will bring together Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth (or Benjamin Hunter for us) and Investigations 2: Prosecutor’s Gambit. Both were originally released on the Nintendo DS and the second never left Japan.
