news culture Captain America could have had a very different career if people had seen this hugely successful 2007 film
Among the most in-demand actors in all of Hollywood, Chris Evans holds a special place. The one who plays the famed Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, took the right path but revealed another film could have landed him a very different career. And this feature film, unless you’re more stuck in the cinema, many have never seen it in its color.
A failure at the box office…
Sometimes a single role is enough for an actress or actor to explode in fame and become a Hollywood must-have. By donning the Captain America costume, Chris Evans was able to live up to the full weight of the superhero role. From there, he could choose his future projects and put aside those he thought were less interesting. Many actresses and actors do not have this privilege and are often forced to accept roles that suit them less. It also happens that a role you don’t want becomes a revelation, but that’s not the prerogative of all projects. In short, Chris Evans revealed in an old interview that another film close to his heart could have propelled him to a very different career path.
…undeserved for Sunshine
On a budget of $40 million, Sunshine grossed just $32 million and failed to break even. We can assume that the overabundance of films of the same genre prompted people to look at other projects. Which experts regret, because the feature film by Boyle (future director of “Slumdog Millionaire”) was anything but uninteresting. Chris Evans said:
i love sunshine Maybe ten people saw it. All my good films, nobody sees them. Everyone goes to Fantastic Four, but nobody sees Sunshine. I would have had a different career if people saw it. I love this movie.
Granted that interview is dated and the actor then met with Snowpiercer, but here’s an idea for a movie to put aside if you’ve never seen Boyle’s feature film.
