Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord has deviated from its daily update cycle after the major bugs and performance problems have been fixed and now brings a major patch every week.

The night of April 17, 2020, Patch 1.2.0 was released in the beta branch on Steam – a seemingly small change breaks the whole game.

Caravan nerf destroys the economy

With the latest update, the full patch notes of which can be found on page 2 of this article, developer Taleworlds Entertainment gave the caravans a hard blow: Not only have they become more expensive, the maximum size of the commercial trains has also been limited to 30 units – although of them in nothing is mentioned in the patch notes.

This has catastrophic effects on the game world: Almost every caravan is now attacked and captured by bandits or looters, so that no more trade can take place between the different cities in the open world of Calradia. Since the towns run out of food, their associated prosperity rating automatically drops, sometimes even into the negative range.

This leads to the settlements becoming impoverished very quickly: When we visit the local dealer, for example to sell our loot from the last battle, he no longer has any gold to buy our goods.

Even though the update promises many useful innovations, such as smarter AI in siege battles, we recommend that Patch 1.2.0 not to install for now. If you have installed the previous beta patch, you shouldn't be afraid: Patch 1.2.0 will only be downloaded if you explicitly select it in the Steam settings in the same way.
