Cash for Rares: 5-euro purchase from the flea market brings 54 times

The two friends Olaf Peters and Heiko Tamminga made a real mega deal on Bares für Rares. At the end of July, they sold a book on the ZDF show that they themselves had bought for just 5 dollars at a flea market for 54 times the price. Dealer Roman Runkel paid a whopping 270 dollars for the copy. What makes the book so valuable?

It is a prop that was used in the film “The Name of the Rose”. This was filmed in Eberbach Monastery. This means that the book also has a connection to the show. Several episodes of Bares für Rares XXL were recently filmed in Eberbach Monastery – including the episode from July 31, 2024, in which the most expensive sale ever on the show was achieved.

Roman Runkel pays 270 dollars for props from “The Name of the Rose”

Did this circumstance prompt Runkel to open his wallet? Possibly. But Runkel also revealed himself to be a fan of the film in a conversation with presenter Horst Lichter. He also lives on the grounds of a former monastery, which is why the book would fit well into his private library.
