With the CAT S75, you should be able to receive signals anytime, anywhere. You can even send a text message with your cell phone from Mount Everest. A new chip in the device makes this possible.
- The CAT S75 celebrates its premiere at the MWC.
- The mobile phone enables communication without mobile phone reception via satellite.
- However, a subscription is required for this.
The Bullitt Group is known for their rugged CAT phones. In the run-up to the MWC mobile communications trade fair, the company is now announcing a new flagship model, the CAT S75. The biggest innovation is the integrated NTN chip, via which the mobile phone can connect to geostationary satellites 35,000 km above the earth. This allows you to make emergency calls and text messages even when Wi-Fi or cellular service is unavailable.
Bullitt Satellite Connect subscription required
The iPhone 14 already offers this possibility, but here the function is limited to emergency calls only. With CAT, you can also just send a greeting home from Mount Everest via satellite – all you need is a subscription to Bullitt Satellite Connect.
These start at 4.99 dollars per month. With purchase, you also get a 3-month free trial of the Essentials Messaging Service plan, which includes up to 30 messages per month.
What does the smartphone have to offer apart from satellite communication? The display measures 6.6 inches and has a Full HD resolution. The refresh rate is a contemporary 120 Hertz. The 5,000 mAh battery can also be charged wirelessly. The MediaTek Dimensity 930 chip acts as the processor and there is a 50-megapixel camera on the back for photo and video recordings, along with an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor and a 2-megapixel macro sensor.
price and availability
The cell phone is still delivered with Android 12, but Bullitt promises an update to Android 13 and Android 14 as well as five years of security patches. These are to be delivered quarterly for the first three years and then every six months thereafter.
