Don’t go straight out of the cinema! In “Matrix Resurrections”, which has just started, an end credits scene is hidden. More about it on Netzwelt.
- In typical Marvel fashion, “Matrix 4” contains a scene after the credits.
- You will learn what it is about in this article after a spoiler warning.
“Matrix Resurrections”, the fourth part of the franchise, has started in German cinemas after an 18-year break. It is true that the sequel with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss comes on the criticism collection page Rotten Tomatoes currently only on an average rating of 67 percent positive reviews (which is not amazing), but there is undoubtedly great interest in “Matrix 4”.
All cinema viewers should definitely wait for the end credits of the Sci-Fi Mindfuck. Because, in typical Marvel fashion, “Matrix Resurrections” contains a scene after the credits – actually at the end of the complete credits.
Warning: From here on spoilers for “Matrix Resurrections” will follow!
Before he could regain his memories, Neo (Keanu Reeves) was working on “Matrix 4” under his old, “real” name Thomas Anderson as a video game developer. His company has published a Matrix game series within the Matrix that deals with the plot of the first three films (pretty meta!).
This is what the credits for “Matrix 4” are all about
The post-credit scene of “Matrix Resurrections” now brings viewers a reunion with the programmers and developers of said game company (Neo is not included). You sit around a conference table and complain that there are no more stories to tell. Both films and games are dead.
But then one of the group suggests the (supposed) solution: Cat videos! As everyone who has been to the Internet knows, these clips are actually incredibly popular. The game company should therefore rely entirely on these videos in the future – under the name “Catrix”.
Does this “Matrix 4: Resurrections” credits scene criticize the “fast”, easily consumable, not particularly deep clips on the Internet à la TikTok, YouTube and Co., which are supposedly not thought-provoking at all, which are so widespread today? May each of the spectators decide for themselves!
