- Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) will change its bank details on April 23, 2024.
- Contribution payments to the old account will then be ineffective.
- Failure to do so can result in an assessment notice and a fine.
The broadcasting fee (formerly GEZ) is a controversial topic and mail from the fee service causes many people anything but joy. Nevertheless, you should open these letters as soon as possible if you still have them lying around. Because there is a change in the RBB broadcasting area (Berlin and Brandenburg). This particularly affects those who have previously paid their broadcasting fees by standing order or individual transfer.
The background is that the bank details of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) were changed on January 1, 2023. As of the deadline on 23. April 2024 the old account at Commerzbank will be permanently closed. Anyone who has not yet changed their standing order by then or continues to incorrectly transfer money to their old account will, so to speak, be paying in vain and will effectively no longer pay any broadcasting fees from April. Failure to do so can result in a notice of assessment and a late payment surcharge of at least 8 dollars.
Bank details change
In order to avoid fines, it is recommended for contributors from Berlin and Brandenburg new bank details to be used for future contribution payments:
- Recipient: Contribution service from ARD, ZDF and DRadio
- IBAN: DE85 5005 0000 0000 2345 67
- BIC: HELADEFFXXX
- Credit institution: Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen
If you are not sure whether you have paid your broadcasting fees or generally want to see your bills, you can go to Service portal of the contribution service register. There you can also make changes to your personal data and bank details, among other things.
