APPLE WATCH BUYING ADVICE – ALL GENERATIONS TESTED

No stainless steel and of course no titanium – the upcoming Apple Watch SE will be made of plastic, Bloomberg claims to have learned. That also has advantages.

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman is known for his good sources on Apple matters and was once a “leaker” himself. Now Gurman claims to have found out that the upcoming Apple Watch SE will be made of plastic. The journalist writes this in his weekly newsletter Power On.

According to Gurman, the probability is very high that Apple will prefer the material over alternatives. The Apple Watch SE is the cheapest smartwatch in Apple’s portfolio. So far, the body of the computer watch is made of aluminum.

Plastic has a few advantages over aluminum. If the material is colored throughout, it is less susceptible to visible scratches. It is also cheaper to buy and produce and can be easily recycled. This could be reflected in the price of the upcoming Apple Watch SE.

Recently, Apple has been advertising the Apple Watch SE more frequently in connection with parents who are buying their children their first smartwatch. Against this background, a plastic case also makes sense. Because plastic is relatively easy to dye, Apple could offer the watch in many bright colors.

Apple fans are currently eagerly awaiting the release of the Apple Watch X. The anniversary model with a new design will most likely be released together with the iPhone 16 in September.
